HP and MP are calculated based on a present-stats basis, meaning your previous stats have no impact on your total HP or MP while current stats do. So, if you have 10 base stamina and you equip a +STA item, your total HP is immediately recalculated according to the new stamina.

Conversely, if you take stamina-damage inside a dungeon, your total HP is lowered to reflect your current stamina.

Total HP/MP Formulas

HP Formula

All characters begin with a base HP of 100. At character creation, they also add their medicine skill to determine their final base. Stamina is the chief governing factor in determining HP.

HP is then calculated as (STA x Buffed STA Mod) x (Level + 1).

Example: a level 5 character has 10 Stamina and had a Medicine skill of 5 at character-creation. Base HP is 105. STA Modifier is 1, so 10x1=10. The character is level 5, so 5x10=50, 50+105=155, the character has 155 HP.

MP Formula

The MP formula is different and is unaffected by skills. It also includes strength in the calculations, because strength is directly-tied to casting ability. All players with 1 magic proficiency have a base MP of 100, and gain an additional 10MP for each additional proficiency. Consequently, all of the base character classes have a base MP of 140.

MP is then calculated as (Buffed STR Mod + Buffed INT Mod x INT) x (Level + 1).

Example: a level 5 ExoMage has 10 STR and 15 INT. base MP is 130. STR modifier is 1, INT modifier is 1.5, so 2.5x15=37.5. The character is level 5, so 35.7x5=187.5, 187.5+130=317.5. Numbers in mage Wars RPG are always rounded down, so the character has 317 MP

HP/MP Regeneration

HP and MP regenerate to a certain degree, depending on how much has been lost. Both stop regenerating when the player has lost more than 30%(using our examples: the player would stop regenerating HP if their HP dropped bellow around 100). Regeneration is based on an interval of 5 seconds, actual shown regeneration rate may reflect a higher number(might show 10 second or even 1 minute intervals).

In addition, HP and MP will only regenerate to a maximum of 75%.

HP Regeneration

Players gain back Buffed STA Modifier + Medicine Modifier every five seconds. So a player with 20 STA and 5 Medicine would gain back 2.5 HP every five seconds unless they dropped bellow 100HP. Not much, but it helps.

MP Regeneration

MP Regeneration is a little bit faster as it uses both STR and INT modifiers as well as +.5 per rank. So a level 5 player with 10 STR and 15 INT would get back 3 MP every 5 seconds.
