KSI Mars I

Mars 1 was the first manned mission to Mars, and the subject of the first book, titled Initiative. It used the Valkyrie spacecraft.

Mission profile

The basic plan for the mission had the ship launch vertically from Hope Island, land horizontally on Mars, take off horizontally from mars, and land horizontally on Earth.
