Scarlet Book Timeline

This is more of a scratch page than anything else. Since the Scarlet Jusenkyou books actually have a very tight timeline and continuity, I need to lay out some specific orders and finally clarify a few things I've never gotten around to needing in previous volumes. A similar system will see use in the Conri books. See: Alliance Calendar for an explanation of how the dates work.

School Year

Scarlet's school is broken down into Fall and Spring semesters, further subdivided into quarters.

Summer vacation lasts 87 days, school starts on the second day of the 9th month, which is always a monday

Each Semester is 19 weeks long, the first quarter is always 9 and the second 10, with a few weeks off for various holidays.

First quarter runs from the 36th week to the 45th week

Second quarter from 46 to 51st - break for winter - 2nd week to 6th week

Third Quarter(Second Semester) 3rd to 12th week

Fourth Quarter 13th to 23rd week(actually only 9 weeks because spring break)

Chapters 1-9

Chapter 1

9th day of the 9th month - dinner table conversation that opens book 1 10th day of the 9th month - field trip and fall into tomb

Chapter 2

6th day of the 11th month - presentation to pets - start of chapter 2 7th day of the 11th month - parent/teacher conferences - day of dragons

Chapter 3

Still 7th day of 11th month when chapter starts Dinner conversation is 8th day 9th day of 11th month - meets Hezikah - formally begins quest

Chapter 4

10th day of 11th month, day after dinner with necromancer 11th day of the 11th month - fight at school 11th day of 11th month - shoping trip with espy 12th day of 11th month - first day of detention 15th day of 11th month - chapter 4 ends

Chapter 5

15th day of 11th month - first session with psychiatrist 16th day of 11th month - symposium 18th day of 11th month - Lancer Scarlet appears in school

20th day of 11th month - reception at Keep, Emmerich dies 21st day of 11th month - finds out Emerich is dead 22nd day of 11th month - second therapy session

Chapter 6

25th day of 11th month - back to school 29th day of 11th month - third therapy session, doctor prescribes dancing 30th day of 11th month - Emmerich's funeral 1st day of 12th month - scarlet visit's lab

Chapter 7

Chapter 8

Weeks have passed, so put us somewhere around the 4th week of the 1st month

This is a very long day since she gets up, visits Hezikah, does research, breaks up with Kruz, and finds out about her Antiquarian membership all on the same day.

Chapter 9

Still 3rd day of the 2nd month

5th day of the 2nd month - Scarlet visits Antiquarian headquarters

Presentation on the same day. She leaves on the 1st day of the 3rd month

12th day of the 2nd month - 1 week later.

30th day of the 2nd month - beauty pageant

Chapters 10-17

Chapter 10

1st day of the 3rd month - scarlet leaves for the citadel

2nd day of the 3rd month? Scarlet arrives in Sun's Beacon

3rd day of the 3rd month - scarlet boards riverboat Scene requires revision, its winter

Chapter 11

8th day of the 3rd month - arrival in Gau

5th day of the 10th month - edge of broken tabletop 6th day of the 10th month - flight across the tabletop 7th day of the 10th month - finding Arisa's spear

End of 7th day, the tabletop is crossed, 60 miles closer to Feast

Chapter 17

25th day of the 10th month - reach feast of aeons

30th day of the 10th month - hiking around the feast 31st day of the 10th month - planning session Morning of the 1st day of the 11th month - setting down onto the feast Night of the 1st day of the 11th month - final battle

2nd day of the 11th month - meets nalfagoer and start down river

9th day of the 11th month - Arrival at civilization

11th day of the 11th month - safe arrival home, book ends.

Problem

Book1 was supposed to start at the beginning of the third month of summer, and end right when school lets out the following year.

Instead, the book starts on time, but goes 6 months too long.

Solution

Right now, from doorstep to doorstep, chapters 10-17 takes 7 months, 11 days. I can trim that easily to the planned 6 months.

That leaves us with chapters 1-9
