New page

G.S.S. Revenoc was a prototype Fast Attack Ship built in the post-war period.

Original
The original ship sported twelve battleship-caliber guns fitted into two hull-mounted sponsions, a powerplant capable of firing all twelve guns while maintain maximum thrust, and engines whive provided a Acceleration Curve of 65psl+. The ship had little else. Internal spaces were limited to a combination bridge/CIC, engineering compartment, and a single hallway lined with hot-rack bunks. The ship lacked such basic amenities as a mess hall, sick bay, and showers. Designed for very short-duration deployments, the expectation was for the crew to eat cold rations and use a first-aid kit. Endurance was thus rated at just 72 hours, low even by fast-attack standards.

Despite these failings the ship performed well, in exercises able to achieve simulated kills against capitol and super-capitol ships, if properly escorted and commanded by an elite crew. When less-experienced soldiers were put onboard, the ship did noticably worse, with the prototype being damaged beyond repair when a never-exceed limit was passed.

The second prototype was built with a more robust cost-benefit inspection built into the pipeline, which determined that while suitable for mass-production, the ship was not good for much else. Though stronger than twelve fast-attack ships armed with individual single-barrel guns, the inability to be in twelve places at once severely hindered it's utility. The fact that it cost twice as much as twelve smaller ships also severely restricted its desirability, and the project was abandoned after completion of the second prototype.

The second ship was placed into active service but never saw combat, eventually being placed in the fleet museum.

Revenoc-Class
The concept of the prototype was, however, viewed as desirable enough to warrant further investigation by the admiralty, who commissioned a ship which fixed all of Revenoc's shortcomings and produced the Revenoc-class light cruiser. Modifications included the addition of full torpedo and missile capabilities, two additional guns in a belly-mounted turret, full facilities for crew and an additional capacity as a troop transport. All these modificatios gave the ship a fleet-level endurance while tripling its size. The resulting ship saw speed reduced to just 50psl+(barely fast enough for its designated role) and maneuverability so severely hampered its primary weapons could not be brought to bare on targets.

Revnoc-class cruisers were built in very small numbers and primarily leased to allied navies.

Revenoc II
Some years after production ended on the cruiser version, a team from Gudersnipe School salvaged the original Revenoc prototype for what was described in the proposal as a refit. They cut her amidships and salvaged only the origianl gun sponsons and powerplant. A copy of the plane was built along with a new wider and shorter super-structure. Dubbed Revenoc II(offially Revenoc A on the Registry), she was fitted with state-of-the-art linear ion vacuum engines enabling a new top speed of 70psl+.

The guns were kept largely original but re-engineered to enable both main-line firing and a rapid burst-fire mode. A Bedlam-inspired torpedo railgun enabled super-fast torpedo launches, and a suite of semi-disposable drones provided both active defense and offense. The completed ship, with maneuverability on par with a destroyer and vastly-improved defensive capability, could easily achieve kills against any capitol on the field.

Revenoc II, however, was never submitted for serial production and instead maintained as part of the school fleet.
