Gudersnipe generally reffers to the Gudersnipe Foundation but can refer to Gudersnipe School or anyone affiliated with either.

Gudersnipe is a fairly well-known group in the Multi-Verse, famous mostly as Gudersnipe Assassins School, but also for the Crimson Blade Mercenaries and the WorldCraft Terraforming firm. While the school’s primary export is to train assassins, most of their revenue actually comes from sending its students out as mercenaries, and could more accurately be known as Gudersnipe Mercenary School, but GMS didn’t have the same ring to it as GAS. The G.A.T.E. network is also the property of Gudersnipe, or more precisely its parent organization, the Gudersnipe Foundation. Very seldom is the Foundation actually mentioned, as the school is the most visible aspect of the organization. It seems, at times, as if there really is no Foundation, and that the school is really calling all the shots.

Terminology
GS is a slang term often used, though it can be a bit confusing. The initials apply to both Gudersnipe School and Gudersnipe Space. The Foundation controls a large portion of the Known Worlds, an equally larger portion is held jointly by the Foundation and the Alliance. Gudersnipe Space can be used to detonate basically any area where the Foundation has a strong presence.

Gudersnipe itself is usually referred to as Gudersnipe, the Foundation, or more commonly, GS. GS can mean Gudersnipe School, or Gudersnipe System. Gudersnipe System can mean a machine system built by Gudersnipe, a star system controlled by the Foundation, or just a way of doing things, such as the Gudersnipe School System.

School
Gudersnipe School, on the other hand, is used exclusively to refer to the school and school activities. ‘GS Regs’ for example means Gudersnipe School Regulations, since there are no regulations for Gudersnipe Space(that would fall under Foundation Regulations). Meanwhile the Crimson Blade has its own regs or CB Regs.

Currency
The Gudersnipe Foundation uses the GATE Credit as currency. One GATE Credit or GC(Often incorrectly referred to as 'Gudersnipe Credit') is good for moving 1 cubic-foot of matter through one transit in the GATE system. Credits are issues and tracked by the Gudersnipe Bank

Economics
The buying

GSNet
Gudersnipe’s own private information super-highway. Designed for inter-Foundational use only, GSNet is often criticized for being remarkably insecure. Opponents site its lack of encryption and high degree of speak-easy security. Said individuals are unaware that security for the network is handled by Gudersnipes’ Misinformation-division. The net contains countless layers of security, guard-dog-programs, and numerous honey-pots with varying degrees of believability. No legitimate security breaches have been recorded to date. Surprisingly, while no hostile entity has ever successfully penetrated GSNet, it does contain numerous backdoors and well-hidden security ‘holes’. These do operate on speak-easy security, but are kept extremely secretive, to be used by Foundation members in times of need. Most such holes only lead to communications ports, allowing an operative to contact someone inside the Foundation and authenticate themselves. Good training and accurate profiling of Foundation members has helped avoid any security breaches.

GS Labor Mill
Mill or plant whose primary function is not the production of goods but the provision of jobs for unskilled laborers. One of the Foundation’s goals is to provide stability, this is accomplished by determining what stabilizing factors a given civilization needs, and providing that to them. A perfect example comes when evolving civilizations make the transition from unskilled labor to skilled labor. Say a company makes cars, cars were originally assembled by hand on an assembly line, perhaps five hundred workers might have their hands on a given car as it moved down the line. Each worker had to know how to do only one thing, so the plant employed many unskilled laborers. That same plant then replaces human hands with robot hands, and replaces five hundred workers with perhaps fifty, who must know how to service and maintain the robots, and the computers that operate them. This transition from five hundred grunt workers to fifty skilled workers does not leave four hundred-fifty jobless; it leaves all five hundred jobless, and hires fifty new people. Quite invariably, there are people unwilling or unable to make this transition, people who lack the education or resources to work at a skilled job. Worse still, if the society fails to provide enough opportunities for their children, these people become locked in a never-ending cycle of poverty. Not enough unskilled jobs around, not enough education to obtain skilled ones. Enter the Gudersnipe Foundation, and the Labor Mill. Labor Mills are usually constructed on otherwise uninhabited planets, because their presence near urban centers tends to hurt the economy more than help, by introducing a rapid influx of money. Instead, unskilled laborers are brought to these mills were they live and work, performing unskilled labor. They live in communities where they enjoy all the same comforts as skilled workers might, though because it is a 100% Foundation-controlled society, the economy is strictly regulated. However, these laborers are given a task to which they are suited, the opportunity to learn more challenging tasks, and most importantly; a top-of-the-line education for their offspring. The kind of work most often performed at these facilities could be done easier, faster, and cheaper by machine, but that’s not the point. The purpose of the Labor Mill is to provide jobs, and self-worth to people whose only marketable skill may be a strong back.

The Gudersnipe Foundation, founded at the begining of the Second Chaotic Period, is one of the dominant powers in the MultiVerse. The organization's name is often abrevated simply to 'The Foundation'. They are widely credited as one of the forces that ended the Mage Wars

The Foundation is also the largest economic entity in the Known Worlds, controlling as much as 60% of the over-all economy. The Foundation holds major stakes in nearly every industry, most particularly in the areas of raw materials and heavy manufacturing. It uses these key positions to regulate the economy, maintianing long-term stability over short-term gains.

Basic Edicts
The Gudersnipe Foundation is based around one very simple principle of peace through superior firepower. More precisely, by having the biggest guns they can keep everyone else from fighting. Though a millitary organization, the Foundation's ultimate goal is stable and functional societies.

Organizational Structure
The Foundation runs top-down using a millitary command structure. Various divisions use different rank systems, but generally speaking it depends on the venue. On planet-side only deployments the highest rank is General, but Generals typically answer to Admirals who command multiple star systems. There are varying ranks of admirals, but there is no single high commander. Instead, the Admiral Supreme Commanders answer to the Blind Counsel.

System of Leadership
The Foundation rules around a style of direct military leadership. In otherwords, towns and cities are administrated by a ranking officer with subordinates who follow his/her orders. There are no democratically-elected leaders and all the jobs are based on apoitnment. Security is supplied by the Gudersnipe Millitary Police, and nearly all public services such as schools, hospitals, roads, fire services, animal control, and the like, are operated by the Foundation.

Subdivisions
The Gudersnipe Foundation is a blanket term for a number organizations. The Gudersnipe School serves as the Foundation's military academy. The Crimson Blade provides the main millitary and peacekeeping force.

Relationship between School and Foundation
More stuff.

Life Under Foundation Rule
Life is good.

"Citizen" verses "Member"
There is an important distinction between being a citizen and a member of the Gudersnipe Foundation.

Citizens
In a GS Protectorate, civilians are considered citizens of the local government as well as citizens of the Foundation. Foundation Law usually supercedes local law, though this depends on treaty. In most cases, citizens of protectorates can also apply for membership. Civilians living on worlds with no local government are merely citizens of the Foundation.

Members
Members of the Foundation are generally people who work directly for it, though in civilian roles. One does not have to work for the Foundation to become a member, but one does have to be a member to work for them. Becoming a member of the Foundation is fairly simple and requires only registration, there are no dues or fees involved. Membership makes an individual subject to all Foundation laws, even superceding local laws where treaty allows(all treaties since the mid Second Age have included this provision).

All Gudersnipe School graduates and Crimson Blade soldiers are members. Membership is for life.

Sydnee was born in A.Y. 2211 in one of the many city states that dot the Agras Plane. Her childhood was somewhat mared by the rising presence of the Society of Assassins who were known to conduct operations in the region. Sydnee's home state was one of the rumored locations of High Tower and believed to be in the same area as the Wizard Breakers who founded the society originated.

At age 18, Sydnee was very aware of the events of the age. The Venta Event had just exposed the Society as having broader-potential. Sydnee enlisted in the First File that same year.

Military Service
Sydnee's time in the First File would be short-lived. Though by all accounts a capable recruit, her superiors immediately identified in her a much greater potential. She completed only basic training before being re-assigned directly to Stormwind Keep in Arindell where she was soon placed on extended leave so that she could take the Trials and become a Slayer Dragon.

Slayer Dragon
Sydnee completed her trials in short order, displaying a high degree of dependability and tenacity. A favorite of the then-carrying Pendragon Anthony Trac, she was annointed in A.Y. 2231. Her completion of the trials in such a short time was made possible by special dispensation from Anthony, who believed her military service fulfilled many of the basic requirments. Like Emily Pode and the much later Hunter Jusenkyou, her completion of the Trials would not be recognized as an official record.

As a Slayer Dragon, Sydnee was not well-known for her prowess in combat. She tended to avoid battle whenever possible, and was often percieved as weak. Much of her time was spent shadowing the aging Anthony Trac, who recognized that in the coming years, a different kind of Pendragon would be required.

Pendragon
The sword was passed to Sydnee in A.Y. 2242. Anthony had taken ill the year before, and Sydnee caried out most of his duties by proxy. This helped give her reign legitimacy, as she took up the sword at a time when many were questioning Anthony Trac's leadership and the place of the Slayer Dragons in the modern Alliance.

Sydnee immediately set about strengthening her political position by reaching out to the powerful Gudersnipe Foundation. At the time, the Alliance and Foundation were still working out the exact terms of administration over Joint Space, and it seemed an open conflict was inevitable.

A strong and authoratative leader, Sydnee brought the Foundation to the negotiating table and always spoke as though the Alliance was much stronger than it really was. Her attitutde towards the Foundation was one of equality, she acted as though things were much the same as they had been on the Day of Dawn's Reflection when Uther's army met the old Gudersnipe Army on the battlefield.

At a time when militarily the Alliance was in decline, having only a small force of heavily out-dated ships, and the Foundation had just completed a major fleet overhaul and expansion, Sydnee's position was not a strong one. Many felt she was attempting to goad the Foundation into an all-out war, but her poltical style was actually quite brilliant.

The question between the Alliance and Foundation was never one of who should lead, but whether or not the Alliance could produce a strong and authortative leader. By making her stance one of strength, Sydnee convinced the Foundation that the Alliance would endure.

High Points
At the height of tensions, Sydnee was able to confince the Foundation to remove one of its most dreaded weapons from active service: the Boing-Boing missile.

Later Life and Death
Sydnee's time carrying the sword would set the stage for Robert Desaradie, one of the greatest Pendragons of all time. Unlike her predacessor, Sydnee did not grow weak near the end of her life, and still carried the sword with dignity and honor. She spent little time grooming her replacement, a man whom she had known his entire life. Desaradie, annointed just 7 years before Sydnee's death, was a clear front-runner and an obvious choice.

Sydnee died peacefully knowing the sword would be in good hands, having never drawn it herself.

Legacy
Her role in establishing a firm relationship with the Foundation would have a lasting impact even into the Sixth Age. Many historians would theorize that it was her time as Pendragon that laid the ground work for solidifying relations between the Alliance and Foundation, that, by the Sixth Age]] even had them running joint millitary operations.

In turn, those joint operations forced the Kamians to attack both powers at the start of the Kamian Succession Wars. Had the Alliance and Foundation not entered the conflict together, it is likely one of them would not have survived.

Physical Description
(Taken from First Impressions)
He was tall and stocky in build, with broad shoulders and already well-defined muscles. The years of training with Amuro had gifted him with excellent balance and good coordination, as well as a number of scars.
His hair was dark brown and cropped short. He didn’t need it in his face so he kept it that way. He had a firm, chiseled jaw and a sharp chin, which framed his piercing green raptor-like eyes. His eyes were set far apart and introduced a well-proportioned nose that was also sharp with somewhat of a rounded nub at the end.
He took a moment to trace the lines of these features with a hand, reminding himself that he was himself, and if anyone asked, he could tell them as much. Then, he hiked his duffel bag up a little higher on his shoulder, and started his new journey.

Early Life
Hunter was born to Hygelic Jusenkyou and Sahar Jusenkyou on a round planet in an un-named finite dimension. His parents raised him until he was around 3 years old, when his mother was murdered by Ryoga.

Foster Care
Following his mother's dead, Hunter's father abandoned him to the nation's foster care system. He was never formally adopted, and was raised in a variety of homes, never staying in any one place for more than three or four months.

Early on, trouble seemed to follow little Hunter, as a wide variety of unexplained accidents and fires dogged him. As a young boy, he was clearly troubled, often violent. While clearly possessing very high inteligence, he never went to the same school long enough to qualify for special treatment.

As he grew, his stunts became more elaborate. He dabled in magic, though used his abilities in primarily positive ways. Arson, not so much. He would often run away from home, sometimes for days or weeks at a time, and even made a game of eluding search parties and other attempts to find him.

Teen Years
By his mid teens, Hunter had been transfered to a group home. This was perhaps the most stable part of his childhood, though he was loathe to admit it. For the first time he went to one school and had a steady group of friends.

Training
From the age of around 13, Hunter began training with Amuro Tenken, who taught him many important skills and lessons. The two would maintain a master/student relationship throughout the rest of Hunter's life.

Gudersnipe
At the age of 17, Hunter was offered admission to Gudersnipe Assassin's School, which he immediately accepted. At the school he found opportunities that would never have presented themselves in his old life.

Together with his roommate, Jason Bur'I, the two immediately set about getting into trouble. They learned the ins and outs of the school in no time, and were keen to pursue independant projects, often ahead of proper tutalige. His team set their sights high, and competed in most of the ranked fields.

As an atmospheric fighter pilot, Hunter was quick to volunteer for SEAD Dudty before even learning what it was. He and Jason would fly almost exclusively SEAD missions, with a handful of high-profile reconnaissance and bombing missions. He flew almost no direct combat sortes, but was awarded the Air Medal for his work on weasel duty.

From atmospheric combat he moved on to space, where he lead the Daemon Wing unit of Harpies. Daemon Wing was made up primarily of his team and his neghbors, the Team. Daemon Wing did not recieve any commendations but was invovled in several very high-profile battles. Their slogan was "If you strap enough thrust onto a brick, it will soar like an eagle. If you strap enough thrust onto an eagle, it will soar like Daemon Wing."

After several missions leading Daemon Wing, Hunter took the Trivoli Exam and was given command of the G.S.S. Saratoga along with promotion to the rank of Captain. He would later use the Saratoga as his flagship when he made Admiral.

At the school, Hunter earned the rank of Admiral Commodore and commanded the school's entire Western Fleet. He earned 5 of the six comendations awarded by the school, including Star Unit and Star Student.

Bur'I
After graduation, Hunter traveled with his roommate and friend Jason back to Jason's home planet Bur'I, where he served as a Royal Squire to the crown, and generally made mischief. During much of his time on Bur'I, Hunter was plagued by nightmares he believed were warning him of Draco's impending death.

Arindell
After three years, Hunter would leave Bur'I for Arindell, initially with the goal of meeting Draco, the Great Dragon. He arrived, however, to discover that the visions were not warning, but rather informing him of Draco's death.

At Hokori's suggestion, Hunter entered training to become a Slayer Dragon and took The Trials. Because of his status as a Gudersnipe graduate(the first ever to take The Trials), he was given special dispensation to skip the two years of training and one year of written examinations. Only the physical tests would be required, and he completed those in a record 2 years.

Slayer Dragon
Hunter was anointed in A.Y. 6903 along with Lina Rowen, whom he had taken The Trials with and with whom he had a close friendship. Hunter would spend 5 years as a Slayer Dragon before a conflict with Ryoga and the First Army of Darkness saw him recieve a rather sudden promotion to Pendragon.

Pendragon
In A.Y. 6910 Hunter took up the Sword Excalibur and became Pendragon of Slayer Dragons. Because the sword was passed to him in the heat of battle with the previous Pendragon's dieing breath, many contested his station, but his influence both within the Alliance and with the Gudersnipe Foundation was enough solidify his position.

Marriage
The same year he became Pendragon(and in fact only slightly before the event), Hunter was married to Lina Rowen, though she still used her maiden name as a Slayer Dragon. The two were not the first couple to wed as Slayer Dragons, and the practice was not at all uncommon. The Slayer Dragons even have a special marriage ceremony, officiated by the Pendragon. One of Hokori's last official acts was to marry the two.

Random Trivia
Hunter actually smoked ciggarettes for a short time around when he was first a student at Gudersnipe School, the habbit begining in the short story Tale of a Gun from The Road to War. Though it is revealed that Jason Bur'I already smokes in Introductions from The Concourse to Victory.

Personality Cult
The Gudersnipe Foundation is always quick to capitolize on it's more enigmatic members. Hunter, being both interesting and successful, was ripe for championing the goals and accomplishments of the illustrious Foundation. While still a student at Gudersnipe School and already turning heads, the Foundation sponered an animated telvision show based on a highly fictionalized version of Hunter, as well as a series of graphic novels and juvenile fiction books. The events of these stories were entirely an invention of the writers, and only vaguely borrowed his likeness and the names of his companions and vehicles.

By graduation, the fictional exploits of Hunter Jusenkyou were quite popular throughout the Foundation and Joint Space. A live-action TV series and several movies spawned, as well as rising popularity in the comic book series. All of this gave way to a wide assortment of merchandise, including a very extensive line of Hunter Jusenkyou action figures.

Everything from the Gudersnipe-sponsored works was complete fiction. Storylines and plot ideas were drawn from public knowledge about the Foundation and invented to be "similar to the sorts of things he actually did". Only a few very high-profile missions were made public.

As interest waned in the Foundation, Hunter rose to prominence first as a Slayer Dragon and later as Pendragon, leading to a resurgence in interest in Joint Space and the Alliance. For a brief time, the fictional exploits were mistakenly believed to be dramatizations, though they were quickly exposed. Seeing the potential market, media franchises within the Alliance were quick to pick up and begin producing new material. With everything the Slayer Dragons do being a matter of public record, this time they had the option of basing things in real life events, though many still dramatized situations or resorted to outright fiction.

All of this led to an extensive fan-following and personality cult that persisted until his death. Interest would be revived many millenia later, during the transition from the Long Night and into the New Day.

As interest waned in the Foundation, Hunter rose to prominence first as a Slayer Dragon and later as Pendragon, leading to a resurgence in interest in Joint Space and the [{Alliance]].

The Course Books is the name for the series of five books The Path to Ascension, The Road to War, The Concourse to Victory, The Inclination to Destiny, and The ByWay to Freedom. And look forward to the sixth book Seriously, I'm Running out of Path Synonyms

The Course Books takeplace primarily during the end of the Sixth Age, the Age of the Dragon and the Age of the New Day if you feel like using the Timeline to get precise dates.

Current Status, Outline, and Goals
The Course Books consist of 5 books, each book will be an average of 200,000 words long. Therefore, the entire 5-book series, on completion, will be roughly 1,000,000 words. So if you've read it, kids, you'll have read a million words.

Of the 5 books:
*The Path to Ascension: Published
*The Road to War: Published
*The Concourse to Victory: Published
*The Inclination to Destiny: Finished, editing
*The ByWay to Freedom: Finished

Completed Word Count: 1001324

Target to Completion: -1324

Date of Figures: January 9th, 2011

I have now surpassed my 1,000,000 word goal.

Most recently completed story: Ego

Currently Editing: The Claw of a Dragon

It seemed like a lofty goal 800,000 words ago; but 9/10ths of the way in it seems like I should be done by the end of this year. I probably won't be because seriously, the single hardest part in the whole series is still ahead of me, but it's nice to see it looming up.

Check back here for more updates.
Course Books FAQ:
Q. Why is it called "The Course Books"?

A. If you'll notice, each title is made up of "The {synonym for road} to {destination}
". The name "Course Books" just seemed logical at that point.

Q. What are the Course Books?

A. You might call it a work of experimental fiction, though I strive to stay away from such terms as they make it sound artsy. And if you've spent much time on The Internet, you know most art titled "experimental" really sucks. No, what sets this series apart is the way its written.

Q. What makes them so special?

A. The Course Books tells a story in pieces, and asks the reader to put them together. For example, in The Path to Ascension one story makes reference to a technology called "CTRL+Z", without giving any background information. In The Road to War, a story entitled CTRL+Z fills the reader in. Aside from merely patching the hole in the story from the previous volume, this establishes a chronoloy: the story in the second book must take place before the one in the first.

In all, the Course Books tell stories covering the same time-span, but allow the reader to put them together. This is a series for the avid reader, their are clues and hints and subtexts scattered throughout the plot.

Q. How long have you been working on this for?

A. You could say the Course Books started as early as the mid 1990s, though their was literally NOTHING on paper back then. My first attempts at putting pen to paper didn't start until around the late 1990s, and absolutely nothing from back then has been used. Though much of my original work survives to this day(and believe me, if you feel bad about your own early writting, mine is embarrassingly bad). Nothing that old has made into my modern work, though some ideas and character date back that far(Jason Bur'I's father originates in a story written in the summer of 99).

The original story-arch for the Course Books first began to take shape in the early 2000s, and was solidified by about 2002. The very first story ever to feature Hunter Jusenkyou, the Saratoga and the rest of the gang was probably written in about 2001. That story shall never see print because it is rather shockingly bad.

The earliest scraps of work to make it into publication were probably written as far back as 2002, though highly edited. I first began to assemble The Path to Ascension in 2005, though it wouldn't see print until 2007.

Curiously, even as of 2010, I am still dredging out stories I started in 2004 and piecing them into modern works. The Strange Matter Sword is basically a resurection of a story written around 2002 called Legends Speak, and while it contains none of the original material, it follows the same plotline.

Will It Ever End?
Not really. The story arc of the Course Books will be told in five volumes, but other books will be added later. The plot still has a lot of holes and unanswered questions, and not even the wiki gets to fill in everything.

Then of course there is the continuation of the story: the Consecution Books which picks up a few generations later. So I will never really stop adding to the series.
It's borders have changed many times throughout the millenia, mostly back during the Mage Wars. It is a monarchy with a severely fractured royal line, and has experimented with numerous government types through the Ages, finally settling on a sort of "philosipher king" system where in the ruler may earn his title by birth-right, but is expected to be wise and learned if he wishes to keep it.
This is why people like Uther and Hokori have no last names.

At various points throughout Atayan history, women have seized upon this as being unfair, and many have chosen to shed their family names according to tradition.

Snydee: /* Modern Understanding */

In the modern stories, Antiquity is a term that refers loosely to an unspecified stretch of time before the dark times that proceeded the Mage Wars.

Antiquity can be divided into two periods:

Early Antiquity
Very little is know about this period, despite it lasting for twenty-five or thirty-five thousand years(Jason gives the translation first as 25,000 and then as 35,000 and never specifies which figure was mis-spoken. In later stories it is generally accepted that 25,000 is the correct number).

Early Antiquity is characrterized by the expansion of the Empire of Roads and the Roads War against beings called Iname. During the period that followed, the Eladamri worked to erase all traces of the war, leaving little for modern archeologists to interpret.

Very little is known about the nature of Early Antiquity. The war was being fought seemingly on all fronts, with the entire empire in a constant state of Total War. Ships, Roads, and weapons the likes of which modern people cannot comprehend. The era was dominated by conflict, so much so that it became a way of life.

Classic Antiquity
Classic Antiquity is a period that lasted from the end of the Roads War to the Fall of Roads and is characterized by the peace and prosperity the Eladamri enjoyed. The era was marked by tremendous social and technilogical advances, and is generally described as a trully utopian society.

Classic Antiquity ended when the Roads fell, and move on into the Age of Darkness.

Modern Understanding
Throughout the Mage Wars, the time known as Antiquity was completely forgotten. There are scattered references through the histories, but in general it was completely ignored. The focus had shifted from technology to magic, and as the ancients were not known to even wield magic, it was all but forgotten. Erased, some might say.

It was only in the Golden Age that historians first began to take note of the pre-history of the verse. Various ruins were charted(and often demolished), and a few discoveries were made. Mainly, it was the excavation of sites all around the known worlds that produced similar artifacts, which led scholars to conclude that a progenitor civilization had even existed.

There also persisted in the oral traditions of many cultures a similar theme. They all spoke of a terrible and tragic, often highly distructive event, in which countless souls died, and the work of many lifetimes was undone. Though the similarities were vague enough to be discounted, they all pointed to roughly the same time-frame: the begining of the Age of Darkness.

The discovery of ancient writtings was the main clue, though since writting had to be reinvented during the Age of Darkness, the old script could no longer be deciphered. But for scholars, this was the clincher: there had to be an ancient, Multi-Verse-spanning civilization that collapsed and began the Age of Darkness.

This was all concluded during the Golden Age, however throughout the Ages of the Alliance, little to no headway was made. They discovered ruins all over explored space, found traces of advanced technology, and unlocked more clues and hints in the ancient folk tales of the verse. By the late Sixth Age, understanding of the ancients was limited to this: they covered all of the known worlds, possessed advanced technology, and fought a war. The exact scale and extent was unknown, but at best it was believed the Empire of Roads existed for perhaps three or four thousand years, at most.

However; late in the Sixth Age, an earth-shattering discovery was made by Hunter Jusenkyou durring a highly classified mission: the capital city of the Empire of Roads. The race called themselves Eladamri, and their capital was a planet-covering city deep in Runarin space.

His crew also discovered a cipher which allowed them to finally translate the ancient language. This led to a radical shift in modern understanding of Antiquity and what went on.

However, the report on the mission was taken by the Gudersnipe Foundation were it was classified, and then quietly buried.

Antiquity is followed by the Fall of Roads and the Age of Darkness.

Calendar
The ancient system for measuring time proved to be extremly difficult to interpret. It is believed the Eladamri employed a calendar that accounted for time-dilation, thus allowing for a trully universal system of measurment. However, Jason was eventually able to locate a 'simplified' calendar specified for use on Eladamri, the empire's capital.

The simplified calendar used a unit similar enough to the Dimensional Standard Year, which would allow for easy translations. Further, most dates on the non-simplified calendar also listed an equivelent 'capital' date. Thus, Jason was able to establish a chronology.

The Eladamrians used a system that counted forward from the construction of the first Road, which is dated at 7557 A.M. according to an as-yet undecifered calendar of the progenitors.

Early Antiquity is characrterized by the expansion of the Empire of Roads and the Roads War against beings called Iname. During the period that followed, the Eladamri worked to erase all traces of the war, leaving little for modern archeologists to interpret.
